Most international flights arrive at Roissy-Charles-deGaulle airport located 30km north-east of Paris. Its two main terminals are some way apart. so check which one you need for your return flight; for information in English, call 0148.62.22.80 or see www.adp.fr (under ‘flight schedules’).
The RER B is the quickest and most reliable way to central Paris (about 40 mins to Gare du Nord; 45min to RER Châtelet-Les Halles; €7.75 single). A new station gives direct access from Tenninal 2 (including Air France flights); from Terminal 1 you take the free shuttle bus. RER trains run every 1 mins 5.24am-11.56pm daily. Air France buses (€10 single, €17 return) leave every 30 mins, 6.00am-10.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.00am-10.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, from both terminals, and stop at Porte Maillot and Place Charlesde-Gaulle (allow 35-50 mins). Air France buses run to Gare Montparnasse and Gare de Lyon (€11.50 single, €19.55 return) every 30 mins (allow 45-60 mins). 7am-9.30pm daily. The RATP Roissybus (€8.30) runs every 15 mins, 6.30am-11.00pm daily, between the airport and the corner of rue Scribe/rue Auber (at least 45 mins); buy tickets on the bus. Information: 08.92.68.77.14.
Paris Airports Service is a 24/7 door to door minibus service between airports and hotels. It works on the ‘more passengers the less you pay’ system. Roissy prices go from €24 for one person to €12.40 each for eight people, 6am-8pm (minimum €34, 5-6am, 8-10pm); Orly from €22 for one to €9 each for eight; book on 08.21.80.08.01, www.parisairportservice.com.
Airport Connection (01.44.18.36.02. www.airport-connection.com; reservations 7am-8pm) runs a similar service, 7am-8pm, at €25 per person, €37 for two, then €15 per extra person. A taxi to central Paris can take 30-60 mins depending on traffic and your point of arrival. Expect to pay €30-€50, plus €1 per piece of luggage.
French domestic and several international flights use Orly airport located 18km south of the city. It has two terminals: Orly-Sud (mainly international flights) and Orly-Ouest (mainly domestic flights).
English-speaking information service is available on 01.49.75.15.15, 6.00am to midnight daily.
Air France buses (08.92.35.08.20, cars.airfrance.fr: €7.50 single. €12.75 return) leave both terminals every 15mins, 6am-11.30pm daily, and stop at Invalides and Montparnasse (allow 30-45 mins).
The RATP Orlybus at Denfert-Rochereau leaves every 15 mins, 5.35am-11.05pm daily (30 minute trip); tickets (€5.80) are available on the bus. Information: 08.92.68.77.14.
The high-speed Orlyval shuttle train runs every 7 mins (6.00am to 11.00pm daily) to RER B station Antony (Orlyval and RER together cost €8.85); getting to central Paris takes about 35 mins. You could also catch the Orlyrail (€5.50) to Pont de Rungis, where you can take the RER C into central Paris. Trains run every 15 mins, 6.00am-11.00pm daily; about a 50 mins trip.
A taxi into town takes 20-40 mins and costs €16-€26, plus €1 per piece of luggage. The minibus services listed above also run to and from Orly.
Beauvais airport is located 70km from Paris and is served by UK budget airlines.
A bus service (€10)
between the airport and Porte Maillot leaves 20 mins after each arrival and
3hr 15 mins before each departure. Tickets can be bought at the arrival lounge
or from the Beauvais shop at 1 bd Pershing, 17th.
